I once designed a passable diving beetle using pleats on a 22.5 structure. Maybe I can find it buried in my archives somewhere and decipher the CP. I do know it used the 1+sqrt2:1 rectangle on the upper portion for the fore- and middle legs.
I also did a beetle that was similar to Theodosia viridiaurata beetle from a blitzed frog base. The antennae were in the wrong place, but that should be fixable.
After the fall, we rise.

Yes, I have designed several insects from a 22.5 structure. I have designed a 16 legged insect from a preliminary base, and have designed a varileg dust mite using the technique I described.
