Ryujin 1.2 with scales
I'm considering making a ryujin 2.1, but i want to practice a bit with scales first. Has anybody considered attempting to graft scales onto 1.2???

Re: Ryujin 1.2 with scales
Hmmm well the grid seems too small for scales. Maybe fold 1.2 first?
I would rather fail trying than fail without trying....

Re: Ryujin 1.2 with scales
I've already folded 1.2, it was pretty easy, so i was thinking that maybe I could figure out a scaled version, so that i have a bit of practice before 2.1. version 1.2 to version 2.1 is a big leap.

Re: Ryujin 1.2 with scales
Haha yea. I'm also thinking of folding it
besides the head and scales, the whole thing is pretty much basic BP. The scales and transition units are pretty easy, but the head is what confuses me. I will give it a go when I find good paper though

Re: Ryujin 1.2 with scales
Don't graft on scales to the early version, it won't work out well. Just take a small part of the 2.1 and make a test fold from that.
Re: Ryujin 1.2 with scales
ok, do you suggest testing transition units, as well as the scales?

Re: Ryujin 1.2 with scales
Yes, Definately! Transition units IMO, are harder than the actual scales. Just practice with those

If you know few things about developing ryujins you will know that Kamiya already tried to make 1,2 with scales XD
He was surprised that it wasnt possible...

Re: Ryujin 1.2 with scales
Nothing is impossible! And just to prove you wrong I'm going to make it my mission to fold a simpler ryujin XD
Re: Ryujin 1.2 with scales
Disclaimer: Okay, I just made myself laugh before posting because it's actually not funny at all.
"Ryujin 1.2 with scales"
Why not just set the compleated model on fire? The paper crispiness will make do as scales.
Of course you need the right paper, probably a blend of Tissue over Craft over Foil which has been wet set, to prevent it from burning too fast.
Actually, no, not wet folded. You'd need a thin coat of gel, such as a vaseline, or even dipping it in lighter fluid. You want the gel to burn, crisping the paper, not burning.
Of course, this will lead to distortion, which is why the foil is there.
Again don't let it burn, less is more.
Single, uncut square paper is defined as pure origami. Nobody said anything about using fire.

Re: Ryujin 1.2 with scales
OK I don't care. Ryujin 1,2 is based on 48 diagonal grid body is only 1 units and its pleated so thers no point in making it you will just get some weird looking thing. And If you think that you are smarter than Kamiya than just go aheadloganorigami wrote:Nothing is impossible! And just to prove you wrong I'm going to make it my mission to fold a simpler ryujin XD
And about nothing is impossible
Re: Ryujin 1.2 with scales
