Why you just dont't look around for a PDF version of the book?
My origami insecst 2 and WOSK, started to tear apart and now I'm using printed PDF files of those books.
If you LEGALLY own a printed copy of the book, I don't see any problems.
Also, your books will last long for more time.

meh. the problem with using PDFs of your books is that you now are taking up twice the amount of storage space for the same amount of diagrams, not to mention tree killing unnecessarily (unless one plans to strictly use the PDFs from on screen, which i would think would be very clumsy unless your cpu desk is huge). also, there are probably people who are not going to be thoughtful, and won't print out the pages back to back, and so you effectively have the same amount of diagrams that requires thrice the storage space.
as i said, i've been using the binding clip method for years, and all of my tanteidan books are in great condition save for OI2, which only has a few pages falling apart. once the book actually falls apart (which again, none of them have), spiral bounding is the route i will go.
i also think the cookbook suggestion is a good one, though for some odd reason i prefer my books horizontal, not vertical.
