I bought a load of interesting paper from roze.co.uk and i'm quite enjoying folding with what they call shoyu paper, this one is pearlized on one side, thin, doesn't tear too easily, folds quite crisply, pretty good.
i was just wondering if anyone else has tried it and how it compares to other paper? i haven't done any origami since i was a kid and looking at the stuff going on now the hobby seems to have changed somewhat. i've been making some lovely things but don't yet know enough to know whether what i'm folding with is good or bad compared with what others use.
also i have been looking for large foil paper in the uk. does anyone know of anywhere that does it?

First of all, welcome
Second, you should look at origami-shop.com. It's centered in France and has pretty much everything you'll need

Re: shoyu paper from roze
i went a bit paper mad and got some lovely stuff from there too
actually i think i may be able to answer my own question about the paper, i think this 'shoyu' may be the same as crumpled Chinese paper/Vietnamese wrapping paper. i'm only going by comparing images so i may be wrong but i think it is.
i'm at present folding the Hercules beetle from works of Satoshi Kamiya with it, and apart from the legs separating out a wee bit it's folding pretty well. i think if i'd treated the paper slightly with some kind of glue/starch it would be just right.
