They also asked me a few days later if it has been published anywhere else.

Maybe they changed their policy? Last year my Tessellation was included, but I didn't receive a reply and I know of several other people who also didn't get replies in the past. It is good to know they are replying now. They made some improvements for international folders recently. I'm very happy for example that they now include the original English articles to the magazines when they print them there in Japanese. Great to see that they try to make us happy :-D

i do think that they should translate have dual language for the crease pattern challenge, and maybe even the main diagram. if the original is in English, then they should translate it and have it in japanese also.

Does anyone know when information about this comes out (sorry, my first time submitting to this book)?

Does one actually gets money when their diagrams get published in the tanteidan or any other magazine? Or is more of an Honor thing?

You get a copy of the book and your name in it. That's more than enough, seriously.

A copy of the book is nice indeed! I was thinking about making diagrams for my own model. Never done that before, so it'll take a lot of time to get into that and make good diagrams. So I was wondering if you could get anything back for all the time and effort you put into designing and diagramming a model. I guess you'll have to publish a whole book of models then.

i've drawn diagrams before and i know how much time and nerves it takes to do so - as well as other and more talented authors do. but i have to agree with paulius' words - your name in a tanteidan convention book and a free copy of a otherwise quite expensive publication is enough. and maybe there's even more to come if one of your creations is part of it - imagine all the people folding and enjoying it ...
if you're going to visit my little flickr_gallery, please leave a comment - a critical one is welcome, too, if necessary: http://www.flickr.com/photos/57625237@N02/

Trust me: seeing your (pseudonym) name in the best convention book of a leading Origami association is good for your ego and is an excellent reward!

The tanteidan convention book is off course holy grail of origami, so I agree that having something published in that book is honor enough!
