I don't know... I'm using Canson 40gsm 19x24, same thing as you, and it splits whenever I try to fold a really complex model. Do you not crease the paper sharply?? I tried folding Kamiya's Ancient Dragon as carefully as I could, remembering the splits in the past, and it still ripped down a crease despite my cautious efforts. Did I just get a bad stack of papers? :-/

Old, 20-30 year old copy paper works really well - it's 10 gsm below normal, is strong, and holds a crease well. Suprisingly, modern copy paper just doesn't reach the standard

i folded the ancient dragon with tracing paper before. it was my first complete fold so it was not presentable but the paper never ripped. i use strathmore
