Fireworks would be better than photoshop for this. I'm assuming you know the rightclick text-ungroup-convert to paths trick using the white arrow? That would really help here. I don't own fireworks so i can't help much, sorry (my school does).

i use gimp - its free and i can get good results.
i've been usig it for about 5 years now, maybe even longer, but i'll check out fireworks and see what its about.

It's really expensive. It's worth it, but it is seriously expensive. Is it more or less expensive than sybellius? I don't think much could beat £189 or around that area surely?

flash is 800 usd, which is like 550£, so yes. it can be beaten.
