Please do not say that he will not publish those things.
Please think that he will make it. Nothing's impossible, mate!

Wow! I thought that the main mission in an origamist's life was to figure out how to make ryu zin. I hate to sound offensive; I'm just really suprized!!origamimasterjared wrote:I do not particularly like folding Kamiya's Phoenixes, and as ingenius as it is, the Ryu-zin is still box-pleating, which is just not fun.
Rather, I'd be more interested in his more recent work. When I first saw the diagrams for his Asian Elephant, I thought it to have one of the most perfect folding sequences I had ever seen. Then his diagrammed Sleipnir. The Cocker Spaniel is awesome, etc.
I'd also like to see his crane, angelfish, that thing he made for the Plant Challenge, hermit crab, some dinosaurs, etc.
Those are the kinds of things I'd like to see in "his new book", and I also see them as being quite reasonable.
Obviously I voted something else.
Favourite models by satoshi
I once made a list with his unpublished and nicest works for the next book the way i see it. the list was quite long, as we don't now how much space a diagram one of these models need, i hope they take at least these works:
1. Styracosaurus
2. Phoenix
3. Wasp 2.6
4. Sea turtle
5. Pteranodon
6. Spinosaurus
7. Hercules beetle
8. Caribu 2.2
9. Cerberus
10. Butterfly TH

new SK book
Is he writing a new book? If he is, I doubt that he will have the rui-jin 3.5 CP or diagrams on it (as much as I would like him to). I am working on the phoenix (i cant remember if it was 3.0 or 3.5, but i'm pretty sure it is 3.0) that origamimasterjared showed the refrences for. I think that the most wanted is rui-jin 3.5, but the most likely is probably either the pheonix or the ancient dragon type 2.

I agree with some people here. I reckon diagramming ryuzin or ancient dragon 2 would be tiresome. Instead, it'd be better off to put the cp in his book and diagram how to put in finishing touches. Nevertheless, I chose others because he has lots of other great models. I would like to see a diagram of the malboro, his recent leafy sea dragon and one of his bugs.

Yes, I frankly don't see anyone in the near future diagramming ryu jin 3.5, or even 2.0 step by step, it would just be to darn hard. Also, with the extreme copyright issues made over this CP, I believe that including the ryu-zin CP in the book would result in the model being online even on sites like Google images much much more often. After all this time of such severe restrictions of the CP, to suddenly put it in a book would almost be like saying, "Here is the CP in my new book, feel free to put it on the net." (even though it would still be illegal to put copyrighted material on the internet)

Arguable. Your point is well taken, however, there are certain persons who would post something on the internet no matter how illeagle it is. Example, if the Ancient Dragon CP was copywritten as extremely as the ryu jin one is, I would be willing to bet that it would be on the internet much more often, encouraged perhaps by people who ask for it, as so many people have asked for the ryu-jin CP. People might think that they would be making a ton of people happy by putting it on the net.unknownfolder wrote:Insaneorigami, designers put numerous CP's in their books. In no way would they expect someone to put it online. I just got Works of Satoshi Kamiya. I do not think he expects you to post the CP's online just because they are available.
Here's my last comment about this matter before stepping entirely out of this thread: Wouldn't all the time of the ryu-jin CP being so heavily copwritten seem like a lot of trouble gone to waste? However, it is SK's choice, and he can put whatever he wants to put in his book, whenever he wants to put it in, and nothing I say is going to change that.
Sorry if I have caused any trouble

According to the FAQs on Kamiya's site, he will not be diagramming the Ryu-Zin, and it would take between 500 and 1000 steps.
The reason the Ancient Dragon CP is not passed around the internet is because it is diagrammed. Those diagrams have certainly seen a lot of action.
The reason the Ryu-zin [2.1] CP was not very popular on the internet is because very few people had it, and it was printed on a glossy 15 inch x 22 inch (I think those were about the dimensions--mine is 90 miles away) calendar. This is fairly inconvenient to scan. Not to mention it was a crease pattern from before they became so pervasive, before people actually expected others to fold from CPs.
And no one anything is "copywritten[sic]" more than any other. If you mean more secured or more secretive or exclusive, that's something else. But copyright is copyright.

*sigh* It seems as though I didn't put exactly what I meant into words when I wrote my original post. It is kinda hard to explain... ...but it does make sense. And, when I said copyright, I did mean secured, thank you for correcting me. Btw, my example of the Ancient Dragon was only an example... Apologies for my not well-worded post.
