Hello everyone, this is my design , the Japanese National Flag Hinomaru.
And CP here
Very simple , could everyone give it a try and some hints for me to enhance this model are welcome.
I just thought about it last year and it was born in March this year.
Here is Mr. Horiguchi Masaya's flag. I didn't know such model exist until I completed this one. His flag has less useless lines than mine.

Well, Jason Ku has an Israeli and an American flag on his homepage:
http://web.mit.edu/~jasonku/www/
There are also diagrams of a Georgian Flag in the latest BOS Convention Book.
And there might be some more Origami flag designs out there, especially because some flags would be extremly easy to make (f.e. the Austrian flag which would be a pure-land model

)

No,I'm not new here. I have just re-registered because the former ID is too long and frustrating.
I wonder can we fold France or German national flags since they have 3 different colour strip....
I'have come with new designs but haven't taken photos yet. They are
Miyamoto Musashi ( do you know him ? If not search google )
Miss Blonde
Karasu Tengu ( a Crow goblin in Japanese legend)
Longhorn Beetle .
Photos coming soon...
My favourite subjects are Human and Insect, animal. That's why Hojo Takashi take the first place in my respectation.

You could have asked Saj to change it for you, that way you wouldn't have lost your Junior Member status

Not with one sheet of paper
Concerning your Japanese flag, it's a really neat idea. How big does the sink have to be to get the flag in the right proportions?
To minimize the unnecessary creases you will have to find a way to do the spread-sink without actually sinking it first, i.e make all the necessary creases for it (without creasing the center of the paper) and then collapse the sides to the middle.

Thank you very much !!
The diameter of the Sun is about 1/5 length of the edge after folding the
Ayame base ( I don't know what is this base called in english ) . The above flag is my first try so it has many unnessary lines. Actually there is
a method of making the sun without Squashing, singking the top.
Height of the Hinomaru (actual size ) 2
Width : 3
Diameter of the Sun is about 3/5 of the lenghth of the height,so just adjust
your self.

This way of creating a colour-change in the middle of the model is very nice, you can use it for all kind of stuff, you could f.e easily create an origami fried egg

Digging up this topic again because I just saw some nice flag designs by Sy Chen from the OUSA convention:

All of them seem to be from one piece of paper.
