I need your help with the upper part of Hojyo's Kendoka: At point 8 it's not clear to me where to fold down the 'wings'. Should it be parallel to the existing creases?

I've tried different ways but came finally to an end at point 15. It's a flap with already 3 dimensions, isn't it? So I really don't know how to get to point 18 where it seems to be just flat ...

If you divide the top into six equal portions it is 2/6 from the center in the picture or 1/3 it that is easier to measure. Hope that helps.

thank you. i'm going to try this. but what about the steps 15 to 18. is there a special trick to flaten the 'flap'?
the hakama was no problem but as well as it looks, it makes just a half warrior

Steps 15 - 18: There is no real trick, at step 16 it should lie flat. When you fold it down, it should feel natural. Steps 16 and 17 are just bringing the layers to the front. 18 is the final result of these.

Steps 19 - 23: These are the most difficult in my opinion. Keep in mind what step 23 looks like. You are basically bringing a layer up and then back down, but this is difficult.

Steps 24 - 26: You are now reversing the flaps. Look at step 30 to see what the back should look like.

Steps 27 - 78: These are not too bad. Be careful with the chest plate the edges at the bottom make it easy to tear (depending on your paper).

Step 78: This is quite difficult and most people mess up the model here (his head looks hunched if you do it wrong). Look at pictures on Takashi-san's website and try to shape accordingly.

Steps 79- 92: From here it is not too difficult. I had some trouble figuring out how to connect the two. The top just sits on the bottom. I found this picture which should help with the back. This was folded by nguyễn Quốc Hưng

sorry, but if you ask ME - i can't help. i never tried again to fold this model since i've made my last post to this topic. may be it's time to remember and to complete the still standing lower part ...
if there'll be nobody else going to help you, try to pm halogen64 - he was obviously able to fold through the misterious instruction.

Now that you mention it, the post dates from 2007... xD

I think that the secret is to avoid the crossing between the creases on steps 8 and 10, doing the 8 sligthly not parallel and the 10 not exactly in half. That way it's possible to make it lay flat.

Anyway, I've just bought more paper, so I can mess with the actual fold and see how it comes...

I stuck also at step 16. I still don't understand how to get to step 18 even after halogen64 mentioned it before. "Bringing the layers to the front". What layers and how to? Anyone can help me please?
