That reporter woman did not have a clue!
Good video though! Could you see Robert at the end, he could not put down that piece of paper, still fiddling with it as he spoke! So typical of probably most of us!

Haha she is like anyone who doesn't know much about origami: 'Ohmigosh look at that that is unbelievable! How did you do that?'

I'm always amazed at how everyone-without fail-immediately asks something like "How did you fold that?" As if it's something that can be easily explained

yip.. no clue, just like most people :P

I never met anyone who's into origami.
I had lots of "OMG how did you do that??" here when I folded Stephen Hecht's money flower on several different occasions.
But somehow that made me feel so special..
seriously..

It does make you feel special, but it gets annoying after a while because, really, how do you answer someone when they ask you how you did it? 'Well, first I divided the paper into a grid of 10ths using the Haga theorum, then put diagonal creases here and here...'

It also gets very annoying when those same people react violently when they find out that it took your 3 hours to fold that complex model.

"Huwaaattt??? It took you 3 hours to fold that beetle (kabuto mushi)? Boy...some people have too much time on their hands!" [Makes me want to stuff that kabuto mushi up his nostrils... heheheeh]

It is very annoying when my classmates ask me to make something for them, I think I should really stop folding origami in class now. If you make Kamiya's phoenix and put it on the forum, it may not be so amazing since it is so common to most folders on the forum, but if you show it to the class, they will be so amazed then become so jealous of you, it would sort of suck..

I have several standard answers for "how you did it?":

- Years of practice.
- I just played with the paper.
- I read it in a book.
- I'll mail you the instructions. (than mail CP, "fold on the lines").
- It's a special paper.

on the topic of non folders.. i've had some of my origami models stolen at school because i said i wasn't going to fold them what they wanted. and at high school, a lot of the guys are loaded with testosterone, and damn i get shot in the face if a girl takes interest in my origami "hes stupid though he spends his whole life folding" but the guy who said it still wants what i folded....

Great video, thanks so much for sharing it. The reporter clearly did not research her subject that well before interviewing Dr. Lang. I was really hoping to hear more about his scientific endeavors.

Best quote: "Did you say a thousand squares?"

I think if she saw Ryuzin, her brain will short-circuit, flames will burst out of her eye sockets and her head will explode clear of her neck. Hee hee hee.

Normally when somebody asks how I fold something I just change the subject or ignore their question. It's that simple.

Maybe you don't have flash player. Try installing it first, if you don't have the player.

I usually answer that question by saying, "very slowly".
