Looking to hire an Origamist in Atlanta, Ga.

Hello,
I don't know much about this beautiful art form. I am a director at a local ad agency and we have pitched a new client of ours a whole campaign around Origami. I now need to find an "Origamist" (not certain if that is the correct term) to fold 50-100 dollar bills for a big event. I'm not certain if we have specific needs as far as objects/shapes - we may be open to suggestions.
I have only found this forum and am uncertain if there are any more local forums/clubs in the Atlanta area. If you or someone you know is a specialist in this area please contact me at:
julie@v3branding.com
thanks!

I live near Atlanta. Though designing bill models isn't a specialty of mine, I might be able to do something with a model designed by someone else. You can view some of my work
here. When is the deadline?

If you sent Julie a direct email, and made an agreement, please let us know what happened... and try to post pictures of the models and events.

Sorry for going so long without an update! I ended up folding for the event, and am signed to fold for the ad campaign. The bank opening was really cool, good food and the people were sooo nice! I ended up folding all 100 of the dollar bills! I folded about 70 beforehand and the rest at the event. Most people wanted Cerceda's Peacock, but the dollar shirts seemed to go ignored by most (except for some of the businessmen

). I folded a different peacock for the first ad, I will post it when I have a jpg file. I also have to fold Won Park's Koi by Monday, which will be on a billboard! I've only folded it once before, so wish me luck guys!

To Android Raptor,
Congrats, on the event. I'm glad to hear that you were able to promote the art of Origami and make some money at it too. How did the Koi turn out? I'm really curious to how your client reacted to it.
Anyways, congrats again.

Koi wasn't as good as yours, Won, but he was still very impressed. I hope you're okay with us using your model. The main issue was that the bank needed someone close by so they can get it done in time, and if they went to all the creators it would take forever to get the models back with shipping and all. I would ask the creators, but I usually only get a week or two max (usually only a couple days) to get the stuff done, plus some might not speak English.
I should start designing from bills myself

Sounds like a great start for a little extra spending money. A few suggestions:
1. Make a point of posting pictures of the models that you folded, and thanking all the designers by personal e-mail. I've see that you've done that with Won Park already. Doesn't hurt to cultivate more good will.
2. Do something similar with Julie, at least a nice handwritten note, and make a clear statement that you are a free-lancer with a broad level of expertise, willing to help out in any way possible. [In the back of your mind, you might have a set of fees in mind, just in case someone asks.]
3. Consider 3 portfolios: 1) A set of archival models using nice paper; 2) A set of sharp photos with 3 views of each model; 3) and online gallery of these models for when you are on the go.
4. Think about a 3 minute elevator pitch of what Origami models can bring to an advertising campaign - memorable photos, unique colors and textures, humor, inexpensive handouts & keepsakes. Maybe fold a $shirt and $Rohm Star to keep in your wallet as demos...
Great start.... keep that window of opportunity open... And don't forget your "local" neighbors when you're overwhelmed with requests.
