Tips for Brill's Foxhound?

I've always been a long time off-and-on-again origami enthusiast.
I've decided I need to go back and learn certain models which I've learnt before (pretty half-assed!), perfect them, commit them to memory, and hopefully make this a regular thing.
One model I can do only decently is David Brill's Foxhound. The area I keep having trouble with concerns the legs: shaping them, proper proportioning, etc. I know this is a totally vague question, but do you have any tips on helping me perfect this model?
Also, where can one buy larger paper suited for folding larger models (like Brill's horse)? Is there an internet seller you all recommend?
