Designing origami

Post by soneblees »

How does one begin to create his own origami designs? I have been folding for five years now and I want to create my own models. I see a lot of people on here making new things every month! How can you do this?

This is not an answer, but it points toward that direction:

See the Sticky on Diagramming your models.

Also, look on ericjoisel's site, see Lang's Origami Design Secrets, and Jun Maekawa's Genuine Origami.

You could also take a look at this thread: viewtopic.php?t=4832

Modifying existing models is a good way to start designing new ones.

Thank you! Anything else?

I know a lot of beginner-intermediate folders sometimes have trouble when starting to design.
