My first sheet of origamido (chaos black) - what do with it?

I just orderd my first sheet of (very expensive) origamido.

It's in black.

Does anyone have a good idea what to do with it?

I am a huge Kamiya fan and I also like Lang's work, but I don't like his odd-angles/thinning flaps designs a lot...

I don't know about Kamiya, but Lang's Tarantula and Scorpion (Insects II book) would turn out great, if you can fold them well ofc.

and do I have to treat the paper with MC first or can I just fold it as it is?

Kamiya: Minotaur, Kabutomushi, Bahumut, Or back coat it with a browny - yellow colour and fold his tanuki. :)

I would recommend resizing it anyway :)

It depends on what you're making-origamido has internal sizing, but if you want more sizing before you begin, go ahead. I used MC (not water) for wet-folding complex figures, so the sizing that is already there is enough for me.

hi merman,

i did robert lang' scorpion (in my flickr) with a sheet of origamido (~40cm) and it went very well
no MC treatment for the folding process, but i used it for the final shaping of the legs and tail.

it took me a long time to choose what to fold ut i don't regret it. this paper is really amazing, specially for complex models.

you can try also kamiya' samurai hlemet beetle in the tanteidan conv 14

I just received my Origamido... It looks and feels amazing.

Are there any specific things I need to take into account when folding with Origamido?

Would Lang's Samurai Helmet Beetle from Insects II be doable with 30cm origamido or would that be too small?

I rather cut up my sheet to smaller squares, but I am not sure if this is a wise thing to do.

Also, I hope I don't make any mistakes cutting it. Unfortunately it does not have straight edges. Anyone can offer me some advice how to make it into a perfect square? Using the existing crease for instance (it was folded in half).

i have made that beetle with 35 cm japanese foil, so it should be doable. especially since i've noticed that i seem to require slightly larger squares than most around here to fold things well.

I have tried the tarantula many times with origamido, and failed every single time, unfortunately. i don't know how Lang does it, but i don't recommend that model.

I have succeeded with origamido on Langs tarantula. I do recommend origamido for this model, as the many sinks and unsinks required can rip other, weaker paper.

Would Kamiya's Cyclommatus Metalifer with a 25cm (10 inch) piece of origamido work? Or does it not keep shape in the 3D-stage?

And how would you apply MC on it? When you have completed folding? How does the appliance work?
