Re: O-Gami paper
Indeed I can
As can PhilipOrigami.
More or less, they are still in development stages (although I haven't corresponded with the program director in about a month). When the paper is ready, it will theoretically rival Origamido for thinness and strength, at a similar price point (22x28 inches for $18.99, versus origamido at 16x20 for $8 to $10). They will likely have a 100% abaca paper, (which is what origamido mostly does, and what you have likely had if you got any at origami-shop.com) as well as a hemp/abaca blend...which, if you are curious, is what Satoshi Kamiya likes. Several of us were test folding this paper over the last winter, and from what I have seen and touched, it is a very nice paper. There were some issues with the thinner sheets, which is what they are currently trying to work out (as well as a beater that was evidently broken-down for some time). Now that you've reminded me, I may have to email and see how it is going. Feel free to do the same!

Thank you guys!!
Thats great news! If that paper rivals origamido than thats a plus for us folders because they might become more accessible. =)

Re: O-Gami paper
We at the Capital Area Paper Shapers spurred the paper circle folks to do this. They sold a bunch at last year's CenterFold, I've got some and I can tell you that what they sold me easily rivals Origamido. The reason we wanted to get them going on this was availability. I heard they had a huge order from Nicholas Terry, but I have been out of touch for a bit. Hang in there, I have no doubt that soon they will have more of their beautiful papers.
Re: O-Gami paper
Nice!!!! Such great news! Although I'm also falling in love with the MC double tissue. I'm sure it has its limitations compared to O-gami paper.
Re: O-Gami paper
FYI, papercircle has recently expanded the spectrum of ogami paper (before, they had mostly earth tones, with the ruby red being the only exception). the royal purple and the deep sea blue are very eye catching.

Re: O-Gami paper
Yeah, they have been working on their paper a lot and it has really shown. I have been folding with some of their more recent sheets, and it is phenomenal. They are getting close to launching their website, and will be selling paper sample books, too-it is so exciting!
Re: O-Gami paper
johnnycakes, fyi, they are selling sample books already, and their website has been up for awhile. i bought some paper from them awhile ago... haven't had a chance to fold anything, yet. the paper is gorgeous though. i'm pleased that there is a market for this stuff.Jonnycakes wrote:Yeah, they have been working on their paper a lot and it has really shown. Re: O-Gami paper
My face when I saw this paper. I really need to buy some
Re: O-Gami paper
I've made a couple things with it recently (including a Joisel rat to be included in the tribute) and I have not folded anything better ever.

Re: O-Gami paper
Whaaaaa? When I was at The Paper Circle last month they were still working on the website. I just searched, and I'll be damned it is already up: http://www.papercircle.org/o-gami-paper-shopbethnor wrote:johnnycakes, fyi, they are selling sample books already, and their website has been up for awhile. i bought some paper from them awhile ago... haven't had a chance to fold anything, yet. the paper is gorgeous though. i'm pleased that there is a market for this stuff.
Re: O-Gami paper
for awhile, it was a running joke in another thread (well, as much as anything could be a running joke 'round these parts) that they would keep delaying the opening of their website. it was supposed to open at the beginning of this year, and they kept pushing it back and back. finally, they said they would open the week of OUSA, and even then, it wasn't a week until the website was going. as i said, at the time, it was more rudimentary then now. the paper was organized by thickness as opposed to luster, matte, and mottled, and they offered only earth tones (browns, blacks, greys, greens). hopefully they will continue to expand their spectrum--still missing some blues and different shades of purple.Jonnycakes wrote:

Re: O-Gami paper
Hm. Curious if the website for buying this is credible. I mean, I just got a small comment on a photo and it honestly had nothing to do with buying paper. The comment included "rivals origamido" looked at the description of my photo, and sure enough origamido was in it :/
My guess, a spam of comments sent to people if they had origamido in there. It looks pretty promising though... Has anybody else bought from the site?
