I can not count the times i came up to step 46 from a model I really wanted to fold and it say's "simpel swivel fold, the dots meet" and the model was neat and clean..up to then..after a few 100 times the Goldfish or wht ever the model was going to be ends up a ball.
Why does the swivel fold taunt me?
Is there a trick to them?
The same with releasing paper.i never know where it comes from and end up tearing..lol
I have been kinda stuck with origami for a while now, i want to move past the stage i'm in now, i can fold some intermediat models, but most i get stuck .

No swivels and no release papers are made the same, so without knowing which specific one you mean, it is almost impossible to answer your question.

As usual practice makes the master, so keep struggling and if you have a specific problem with some specific step on some specific model, maybe by asking here, people could help you get better.

I've had a similar thing recently - I'm trying to move onto more advanced folding (mainly Robert Lang's models) and have found that if you get to a fold and get completely stuck, when you try and make it again you more often than not manage to work out it out the second or third try.

It's bizarre - even if you don't know where you went wrong and can see no reason why you would get it right the second time, somehow it seems to work. Maybe it's because you do the preceding steps better or something? So I think the boring answer is - try try again!

With regards to releasing paper - don't be afraid to pull your model apart to get the paper free! It's hard to bear, to see all your creases unfold as you try and release a single flap, but if you make your creases strong beforehand, then it usually folds back down nicely when you reassemble it! And if not, it should at least clue you in on the most efficient way to do it the next time.

Folding any of Lang's models you think you've got it under control until the infamous 'pull out some loose paper', or 'bring a single layer to the front', because it almost always requires just about completely unfolding the model, reverse a couple of creases, re-collapse and hope you didn't get lost in the process and can't figure out how to get back...
It's always a 'wtf!?!?' moment..

i disagree. the wtf moment is when you turn the page and see you have to sink all the flaps in and out 9000 times haha
