Re: Sending origami
What kind of flowers? If they don't come apart easily in general, it's probably fine to send them in the mail. I've never sent origami, but I would just find a box, stick it in, and fill the extra space with peanuts. If you're sending a single flower with stem, I would invest in a mailing tube.

Re: Sending origami
I sent model to Poland, USA and UK. I used box, put inside some filler around the walls and floor, put inside models and space fill with small filler-balls. Then pack it and send. But flower are much more vulnerable. The tube, as LeafPiece said, should be very good.

I would reccomend using tissue paper as a filler because I think it works great, and it looks really nice. And its an excuse to go get more paper

Thanks for your posts. I usually make all different kinds of flowers. I like to make flowers with reinforced wire stems and put them in a small ceramic pot with leaves and sand - really like pebbles - to make the dirt. I wanted to make a flower pot for my friend in Japan, and I will try some of your ideas and hopefully it works. Although, I might use origami paper for the sand instead.

You could make a bunch of those little stars (out of strips of paper) out of dirt/pebble colored paper to make the "pebbles", such as browns, grays, tans, etc.

Re: Sending origami
Since you are sending them in a pot, it would probably be a good idea to fix it in place inside the box so it doesn't move around (something that heavy is not good for origami if it moves around too much). Maybe cut a cardboard insert with a hole in the middle to fit the vase, then pack it in with tissue paper?
Re: Sending origami
That's interesting Ignats; you and I do very similar things with origami. I have often wondered how I would send a potted origami plant. Like Jonnycakes said, you just need to make sure the pot itself is secure in the box and doesn't move around. The cardboard insert would work, or styrofoam. Then I might even tape this to the inside of the box. Good luck!
