I couldn't find a topic like this so who are your favorite origami artists? My favorite artists would be John Montroll, Robert J. Lang, Brian Chan, and Roman Diaz.

Mine as well. I know no other artist that could make such lifelike models.

wow, it is so hard to compare some of the great origami artists, some of them are so radically different in their folding styles, i really admire Joel Cooper for taking tesselations and twists and making such amazing works of art, Robert Lang for his designing style and ideas, Eric Josiel for the amazing complexity and lifelikeness, and Satoshi Kamiya for, well, being himself.

Hey guys, I was just wondering who your favorite origami artists are. I am posting this in hopes of finding and having you guys find new artists to check out. Just put their name and what kinds of things they fold. Also, whether they have books, videos, or whatever. Don't limit yourself to just one! Post as many as you like.

Jeremy Shafer. My most favorite designer.

Love the simplicity, beauty-ness and the funny actions! Also love his flashers.

Hideo Komatsu. Hands Down. The pure art of folding paper.
Yes super complex origami is cool, but some times complex models are ridiculously hard to complete. IMO this is not what origami meant to be.
Simple, yet beautiful and stunning.
Hideo Komatsu Lion is the sample. If you have the book and folded it at less once following diagrams you know what I mean.

I know exactly what you mean, Froy. The model has 200 steps and yet you can enjoy every moment of folding it. It's a real pleasure folding Komatsu's Model's.

Robert Lang is, without a doubt, my favorite origami artist.
I don't care if you love or hate his models (I personally dislike his straight treemaker designs), you can't deny that he has been one of the most influential persons in the world of origami and his teachings have been a pivotal point in origami design, giving many people the ability to visualize crease patterns for there models and design them.
plus, origami design secrets is, in my opinion, the greatest origami book ever written, by far.
