joshua--you seem to have an almost religious attachment to tissue foil. what gives? i honestly think you should try another medium. your folds from tant look much better. because your designs are intermediate, it makes it very hard to mask the imperfections of your tissue sandwich, your starting square, and your folding technique.

with your fox, for instance, with the flap on the right, the fold very noticeably does not go from the center to the very corner, so the edges are not flush. as your progress like this, the final model has the appearance of not being folded with care.

lucanus hembra by nicolas gajardo - 30x30cm tissue foil
and yes, that is a live centipede next to it!

ostrich by quentin trollip - 30x30cm tissue foil. It's not so hard, its just the fact that it gets so small compared to the starting square!

I think you need a bit more exercise wirth something else than foil paper before taking on a really complex model.

You stated that tissue foil is easy to fold. I tend to disagree, it requires practice to do cleanly and is only suited for some models.

The only nice thing I can say about foil is that it holds its shape and is a bit easier to form because of that. This is good for some models but especially for the complex models (like Kamiya's dragons or Langs bugs etc.) you don't want to use foil as it prevents the folds from being reversed without wrinkling.

i will cut down on tissue foil - but i won't completely stop with it.
i have ordered 3 huge sheets of different paper from origami-shop.com.
these papers are roughly 64x94cm. the papers are - nicolas terrys tissue foil, some textured tissue paper and brown natural tissue paper.
i will start to order more different paper in future. :D

Joshua, could you at least try to make the pyramid (its base) look square..? Really, it looks like a mangled owl's face at the moment. I'm really wondering why you're so eager to fold it from tissue-foil again; haven't you noticed that tant (at least) doesn't make it look like a wrinkly pile of <censored>?
