I have to agree with Jared. completely. Using good paper doesn't immediately make the model better. Its the ability to use that paper that makes it better. And looking at a lot of your stuff, I can't say I see that ability in you :/

You need to slow down and shoot for quality over quantity. a bunch of poorly folded, hastily designed, models will most always pale in comparison to a singular, well folded, well designed model. Every 'final' version you make usually looks like its only maybe your third or fourth time actually folding the model.
Many folders (myself included) fold many drafts until they feel satisfied enough with a design to call it done. you should try and do the same

ok, bluepaper, i will try to do lots of drafts in my next models.
this is the tanuki that ive done. sorry for the dark photos and a fat, bear like body, but i have now fixed this and will post pics of that tomorrow.





i know that there is still room for much improvement but this is just a test fold to see if it worked or not - and it did, and ill improve it as much as possible tomorrow.

I really like your bear, the head is nice!
plz take your time to improve it, you can obtain a nice model!

for example I would like to see a bigger round butt like a bear have (can I say that? dunno the polite word ) and bigger rear legs than front legs

its not a bear, its a tanuki!!
althuogh using the base, i can obtain a nice spectacled bear

anyway, here is another draft of my tanuki. im still not satisfied with it though, but im not exactly sure what to do with it.
but i will do more with this.


yesterday night i was bored so i folded this tiny malay tapir from a 5x5cm square of double unryu. my design.

ive designed a spectacled bear.
this come from the same base as the tanuki.
i prefer this one though and im not sure which one to diagram

Tanukis aren't half raccoon, half dog. Though they are canids, they are part of a genus of their own thats completely separate from other canines.

And to be honest, your tanuki's markings look very little like actual tanuki markings. Joshua, did you use any reference pictures when you were working on making this? because that doesn't exactly seem to be the case.


and on that note, the spectacled bear's face kinda gives me that same impression, because its not at all recognizable as a spectacled bear.

I think you need to focus less on making models with color changes and work more on making your designs look more realistic.

i do use photo references but sometimes even then i cant get it perfect, but i do try.
i will refold the bear and tanuki sometime and try to get them as right as i can.

I finally got around to folding your walrus! It was folded from a 15 centimeter (6 inch) square of leopard print kami. Why leopard print? I felt like it. I'm very sorry for the poor quality, but my good camera is still down, so I have to use my webcam for the pictures.
