Challenge: upgrade an abstract or simple model

I was folding the squirrel by Jun Maekawa from Origami Tanteidan #14 and started shaping it until I reached a much more realistic animal.

Don't get me wrong: I think Maekawa's original is absolutely amazing, but it's an interesting assignment to 'upgrade' an abstract or simple model to something more realistic and detailed...

In the picture below you see Maekawa's original and my own adaptation...

My challenge to you is: can you do something similar to one of your favorite simple designs???

That's quite impressive what you did there in terms of shaping, Merman.
I generally only shape models if I think the 'abstract' version came out well. I'll see whether I can post some pictures of nicely shaped models.
