Hello Origami Forum

Post by Releashi »

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

I'm 25 and I've been casually interested in Origami since I was a child and I was given a book of models and instructions. I make things from patterns fairly often these days but I find it hard to commit many of them to memory, even the ones that I have done lots of in the past. Last year I made all my Christmas Tree decorations out of Origami, threading some with string and hanging others on wire and hooks and my partners mother would like me to do some for her this year so I guess I will be a little Origami factory between how and then as their trees are usually huge!

Some of the models I've already seen on the site just browsing are amazing! I didn't realise until pretty recently how many complex and wonderful models there are out there and I hope to give some of them a go in the future.

Releashi :
You may wish to utilize the search function of this forum, to find suggestions for books and diagrams .
I always encourage buying as many books as possible. You can check out Gilad Aharoni's site for ideas. http://www.giladorigami.com/Books_default.html
By the way. Folding several editions of one model is a great way to improve upon it, and memorization will come with practice .
Happy folding !
May I wish success to all who cope with the mountains & valleys of Life,
with all its peaks & depths, as well as Origami .

Thank you everyone for your welcome comments. I will probably put a book or two on my wish list for Christmas this year, thank you for the link.

I think maybe I have some issue remembering Origami patterns as after a little while even things I've folded 50+ of I can't seem to remember. It isn't the end of the world as long as I have the pattern to hand :)

Do you have any recommendations for intermediate books? I generally like doing animals and flowers most.

Welcome to the forums, Releashi!
If you want to fold some more stuff you could go here:
Origami Galore!

Its a great site that has hundreds of free diagrams from simple to complex.
I folded like crazy from that site a couple of years ago. Its a great site.
Enjoy! :D

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.
