Origami News with Twitter

Do you know Twitter?
It’s a way of sending a short message – a “tweet” – of 140 characters for free by SMS, internet or instant messenger, to a group of people (“followers”). It is the same community growing the fastest on the internet: from 2.5 million users in 2007 to more than 10 million today.

At first, it is used most of all to relate the details of your life
So why it could be interesting for origami ?

My website passionorigami.com have a news page which announce regularly some interesting news in the origami community, focus mainly on new creations.

But the html is a pity to update and I'm often too lasy to add a post when I have one.

I've found that Twitter is perfect to announce all the recent news about origami. Very easy to update. As soon as I discover a news, I post it immediately !

That's why now, I've splitted my news page in two parts :

First part : The selection = Each week, I will select and present all the most interesting origami links according to me that I've found in the past week.

Second part : Origami Twitter = you can read all the most recent origami news immediately, as soon as I've one.

So, if you come to the site occasionaly : you don't need to read all the news : just read the "selection" to have the best news in the week.

And if you want the news immediately without checking your 300 x RSS feeds or connect to some other aggregator, just read the Twitter section !

For those who use twitter but don't want to connect each time to my news page, I highly suggest to go directly to my twitter page :

http://twitter.com/PassionOrigami

Or even better, download for example twitterfox for firefox (or other equivalent program). This extension just adds a tiny icon on the status bar which notifies you when an origami tweets have been added and you can read it without need to connect in my twitter page or new page. Very useful !
