Paper shops in Vienna?

Post by aesthetistician »

I'm in Vienna for the weekend - are there any good paper shops I should visit? Or suggestions for good places to eat? Thanks!

There are some small paper shops and the big Boesner, nothing special to recommend. All the paper shops (like every other shop in Vienna) are closed on Sunday and only open until 17h on Saturday.
About food it depends what you like to eat.

Why don't you come over for a visit? I'm in the 13th district. PM me, maybe we can make a small Origami meeting at the hospital, I can bring paper and books. I bet Gerwin would be surprised!

Anna, can you please tell me the addresses of these shops? And what do you mean by "nothing special to recommend"?! I checked Boesner's site and it states that they have Washi, Lokta, kraft and many more...
Also, any good places to buy books?

No. My mother is going to Vienna with my sister at the weekend and she asked me if I want anything.

there is a nice shop, selling books and all the things you need for crafting:
http://www.thalia.at/shop/at_thalia_sta ... tails/820/
the crafting-section is in the basement; there they do have also some origami books. this shop is in the 6th disctrict (mariahilfer strasse), because of the next shop:

not far away is a paper-shop called mastnak:
http://www.mastnak.at/
they do have a variety of origami paper on the first floor - and also everything you need for crafting. this shop is not far away (it is in the 7th district, neubaugasse) from the thalia-shop, you can even take a walk.

just two book-shops that came into my mind:
http://www.hintermayer.at/wbc.php?sid=6 ... wien6.html
there is one branch on mariahilferstrasse, and one opposite of mastnak (in neubaugasse).

a very attractive shop is:
http://www.buchlandung.at
also at mariahilferstrasse; so your mother can visit all the shops I mentioned taking a walk. buchlandung offers many books, also in english, for a cheaper price - nearly 50 % of the "official price". they are selling books with "defects", that means they are scratched a little bit, or have bruises, ... but you have to look for the defects to find them.

I think you do have some impression where I´m staying in vienna :-)
