I think to create your own model you need to be creative. Just think of something that has not been made so far and try creating a model with 3D origami.

Just try and try and you will succeed...

Best of luck

rockerorigami if you want to succeed, don't follow that previous advice. The so called (very badly named) 3 d origami won't take you anywhere in regards of the true origami you seem to pursue.

I got to agree with Jorge on this one.
"3d" origami doesnt really do well in anything. Its brilliant to look at but thats all.

rockerorigami: This link is a generic one that leads to everyone's own flickr stream, but not yours. The link to your flickr-stream has to contain either a long number or your flickr name, depending on how you set it. To directly link to the photo, open the photo on flickr. Below the photo on the right bottom of the page there are some icons. The one that looks like a little box with an arrow coming out is the share-button. Click it and choose a medium size (z 640 is best), then copy and paste the link to here.

Not bad at all. Thats how you start, now from that you can slowly learn more and more. This base you made has 8 flaps. Using it and tweaking it you can make something else of 8 flaps like an insect with long antena. Also note that even a dragon requires 8 flaps but a dragon would need 8 flaps of varying lengths. Good Luck!

Great Spider, Rocker! I'd also suggest, if you haven't already, watch Tadashi Mori's origami design videos:
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
All 5 vids are good, but I found Part 5 the most helpful.

The spider was a good initial step. Now practice the grafts I told you and incorporate them into different areas of the blintz frog base and you can obtain many things.

The picture's too blurry to allow for a precise observation.
