What kind of folder are you?

I thought it would be interesting to see how others fold, balancing accuracy and precision with speed. In other words, how would you generalize your efficiency as a folder?

If it's the first time for me to fold the model and I'm just curious at how it will appear when done, I'd fold using the balanced accuracy + speed method. It's a faster and more practical way to learn and gain proficiency for that model.

However, once I gain proficiency, I fold for accuracy.

I used to fold quickly and not pay any attention to the details, but them I realized that my pictures would be no good without the details. However, it's rare that a make sure that every fold is perfect...

Haha, I was thinking the exact same thing as origamimasterjared. Hmm, maybe I should have made some intermediates between the three choices...
I tend to fold VERY slowly, and if I get too sloppy and it becomes impossible for me to make the next folds accurate, then I tend to give up and start all over again.
Now that I'm about 2/5 through making a thousand cranes, I can start cranking them out with good quality without being conscience of accuracy, but reaching that point took a good twelve hours...

Anyhow, when I fold I usually try to be as accurate as possible. I pride myself on doing a good job. If it doesn't come out well I am disappointed, and it usually ends up in my trashcan or on the floor next to the trash (if I miss when I lob it)

Don't be lazy with precreasing. There's a reason the precreasing is there.

but what Mr. Lang often doese is pure horror for me. its like "fold point 75 to the intersection of 45&21 but make the crease only sharp at the first 8th the 12th 15th and the part where line 66 meets point 44b".

It depends on the situation.

If I have to fold several hundred to a thousand flowers for prom by May 5th, I'll be folding to crank them out.

If I'm designing or folding something normally, I'll balance speed, but still keep a good amount of accuracy.

If I'm making a gift or true exhibition quality model, I'll fold it carefully.

Though with each choice the paper also differs from regular art paper, to kami or japanese foil, to backcoated mulberry.

Exactly! I would never fold a gift or something for an exhibition out of just copy paper, and I would take my time.

Well, I had to choose 3 because I compromize nothing for accuracy. That is probably the reason why I don't fold as often as most people, and why my construction system relies so heavily on reference finder I'd love to learn to fold like a number 2 folder, but just can't bring myself to do it. That's why the only model I've folded more than 5 times is the crane (and salt celler actually).

I know I'm lazy, okay!
