Well, lately I have somehow been addicted to serious stuff. Some of these movies would put me to sleep within 2 mins earlier, but now, well, I adore them:

1. Children of Heaven
2. Monsieur Verdoux
3. The Decalogue
4. Ikiru
5. Amadeus
6. Central Station
7. Umberto D

And I must have watched the Friends series at least a million times! I can now mouth the dialogues of each episode as it is playing.

(A pity Joey wound up after season 2)

Well, reading this topic has given me an interresting insight into the minds of my fellow origamists, and also reaffirmed one of my more disappointing realizations. I will start my list with the greatest trilogy ever made, The Matrix Trilogy. These movies are in a class of their own, but (and here's the afore mentioned realization) horribly unappreciated in there brilliance and sociocultural significance. The passing of such a blatent and accurate depiction of what the world around us really is, and how the world really works, without anyone even so much as lifting an eyebrow in appretiation, is to me a monument and simptom of one of the greatest tragedies of our age. What the Whachowski brothers did here (especially in the first movie) was give us a word for word description of the "wool being pulled over our eyes". What amazes me is the fashion in which they did it. Not only didn't they use excessive metafores or over complicated visualisation of what they where depicting, but they simply change key words in the narative to make it into a story. This is the same way Jesus used to teach His Word in similies.

But enough seriousness, the seeds are sown.

2. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - The story itself is a monument to the tremendous storytelling ability of J.R.R. Tolkien
3. Gladiator - Need I say more
4. Whicker Park - Perfect casting, brilliant film making.
5. Ben Hur - The first movie ever to win 11 Oscars.
6. The Last Samurai
7. The Shawshank Redemption
8. Boondock Saints
9. Good Will Hunting - Maybe because I'm a budding mathmetician

10. Schindlers List

That's the top 10. This may be a bit of topic, but I think that the Band of Brothers mini-series can and should be mentioned here. It gives the viewer a horrifyingly accurate insight into WWII, and I love it!

Araknoid: I used to know all the Rocky Horror audience lines, but I haven't been to it for ages (the fleapit cinema that used to show it closed down). Such a pity!

Cupcake: I've read Angels and Demons, but I wasn't impressed. The science was mangled, the pacing was mechanical, and the Illuminatus stuff is better done and funnier in Illuminatus by Robert Shea and Robert Wilson.

In fact, that book put me off Dan Brown entirely. Maybe I should give him another chance...

Current favourite kids movie, really my son's favourite: Cars

Favourite adult movie/s: a tie between Strictly Ballroom and The Dish
followed by the LOTR trilogy, a little disappointed they left bits out for time reasons (I think all 3 are over 3 hours long) but at least what they did leave out was not essential to the story line and, I believe, apporved by Christopher Tolkien.

There are other movies that I really like but these I have watched and enjoyed
more than once or in the case of Cars 5 times so far, at least.

I forgot to get to my point:
even though you are right about that stuff (I haven't read Illuminatus), I wish there were a movie. After all, the Da Vinci Code was made into a movie.
