I'll have to start doing some random origami, just wish I could see the people's faces when they pick up a Joisel rat and smile

I've left a few models behind when traveling before...most memorably, some that I folded while waiting in a train station for a train that was 4-5 hours delayed. It's enjoyable, and you know that when they get found, they'll almost certainly make somebody smile.
Unfortunately, there are only two or three models that I can fold completely from memory. I've learned many models over the years, even some farily complex ones, but if I don't do them often, I completely forget them. I learned Kawasaki's rose a couple years ago, and made dozens of them from memory over several months...and then last week I tried to make one and would have been hopeless without the diagrams. Luckily I had a couple books with me when I was at the train station.

Dont worry DShpak, my memory is so bad I cant even remember where the train station is!!!
Just kidding... I have an awful time to remember how to fold my own designs. My brother tells everyone I do origami, and then when they meet me for the first time, they ask me to fold something. Usually I get half-way and then realise I'm totally wrong... with my own model!!!
So dont feel bad!

Ugh, I know, it's so hard for me to remember designs unless it's either Jedimaster Yoda or my own (of the few that exist). I can't even remember how to fold the flowers and hearts people show me, though it's fairly easy to reverse-engineer it by looking at it.

I saw a vase of traditional lilies in my guidance counselor's office when i went to get my schedule changed.
I then left about three cranes because i was so freaking BORED waiting for her to finish talking with a teacher.
I get bored so easily. . .

When I went up to London for a weekend last year we used the tube a lot. I folded some simple ducks whilst on the train and when we got off I tried to put them on top of the advertising boards around the station.
I wonder if anyone has found origami in places like this and found they have a real interest in it......

I almost always leave a model or two on my train seat, even for the 6 minute journey from Slough to Windsor.
Sometimes I save up a bunch and sprinkle them surreptitiously throughout the carriage early in the mornings when it's empty.
I do the same in lifts and restaurants.
I have nowhere to store any more models, and at least they're easy to dispose of if people don't like them.
I also always carry a £10 note folded into something or other, just to confound some poor shop clerk (I bet they hate it)

"Had we but world enough and time..."
usually i can't stand a restaurant visit without any folding. so i ask for some paper or take the bill (after having paid) to change it into a butterfly or - lately - a little moose ...
today i left a moose at my library, too. may be it'll start some peoples' interest in origami - it stands now at the shelf of paper craft.
