I forgot to note out, that master Lang was pre-creased paper, so it is much easier to impress people.

Hehe. I always carry Works of Satoshi Kamiya with me, so every time someone asks me where I learned to fold something I just tell them "Oh, well I found this book with some instructions on how to fold stuff". I then show them a picture of the Ancient Dragon. That usually leaves them speechless.Joseph Wu wrote:I usually answer that question by saying, "very slowly".angrydemon wrote:Normally when somebody asks how I fold something I just change the subject or ignore their question. It's that simple.
Anyway, I find it rather amusing to see how others, such as the new reporter, are amazed by such simple models like the one that Mr Lang folded. I used to be exactly the same just a few months ago, until I discovered origami.com though.
Or similarily, answer
"Carefully"
If it's box-pleated, I like to pull a bit of it out to show the creases and that it is from 1 piece of paper.

I generally never get a problem from people since I never tell them about my hobbies. Most people at my school think I am that guy who sits with his friends and never talks to others. I am not very good at talking to people I do not know.
I liked the video, but I wish I could have heard more about some of his other projects. I really got into origami when I learned about all the math you could apply with it. Most people think simple models when they hear origami, which is why they are amazed by most models.

Whenever I do complex Origami I get this sinking feeling.
I don't expect Robert Lang to discuss upcoming models - there may be confidentiality agreements. But he very open and giving about what he can discuss. I strongly recommend taking a look at his Web site to see the range of activities:

Another Dr. lang video. I don't know when this was taken, but I think it's never been posted here before.
As usual, mathematical origami and science
Origami Artist Robert Lang stops by to show Host Ziya Tong how math and science intersect to create complex art.
