What do you think? I know with the Centaur there's no back of the head/hair/neck but it wasn't easy to think of what to do with that area of the paper (it was very thick).
Are there any anatomical problems with the humming bird?
I'm quite pleased with how they look.
Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.
Love the hummingbird. He's really cute and you could easily add a few pleats to the wings to give the suggestion of feathers.

I totally just discovered I have a macro function on my camera- I'm lovin it! http://www.flickr.com/photos/23352404@N06/sets/
I also like the hummingbird more. it's very cute, don't start to overload it with details, it's great the way it is.
regarding to the centaur, do what the person without a real name told you, especially work on the proportions, but nevertheless its a good start
I like the hummingbird! It's elegant but simple and is very recognizable. Great job! Try folding it with higher quality paper.
The centaur needs more work though. The proportions are totally wrong. You need to make the human part smaller and the horse part bigger. It looks like head is coming from the middle of the paper. You should make it from a corner so that you can give it more details. Also, it looks like you could spread the the paper at the tail to give it more detail.
The centaur's legs seem a little too thin and simplistic, and like others have said the body needs a little more size. When I say simplistic, I do not mean in a sense of complexity, but more in a sense they need more movement to them. Congratulations on your design it is a good start
Whenever I do complex Origami I get this sinking feeling.
Nice hummingbird! I suggest you try to wet-fold it. As it is an easy model with relatively few folds, i imagine it could easily be shaped into an awesome 3-D model...
I don't know about that...It looks fantastic, but I think it should probably remain 2d. You could try it, but I think this way is very elegant. I think wet-folding and using softer creases would help it, but it is a great design.
i would make the hummer's body larger and more round shpaed and the tail just a wee bit smaller, and try to make some distinction between the wings and body, but it looks very good otherwise!
I simply love the hummingbird! The centaur is promising as well. If you could find some way of adding hair even that small change would add alot to the model. Keep up the designing!
Yeah, posting the CP here would be good way to get some constructive feedback on how you might go about changing the centaur's proportions. I'd like to have a look at it.
So the top half of the square is the man and the bottom half is the horse body. So I need to give more of the paper to the horse body. Maybe I could make the model out of a rectangle in order to do this.
The head is difficult because of these two thick points
they mean I can't easily work out how to make a neck for it.
I guess it needs to be modified quite significantly - any help would be much appreciated
The body isn't horrible-it is very big, but that is mainly the head and neck. The torso and arms are proportioned decently. A rectangle could work-that would take paper out of the man half and alter the ratio of horse to man. If you want to stay with a square, though, there are a couple of options that I see offhand:
You could reposition the points-in other words, move the back legs up a little bit to the sides of the paper, move the front legs up accordingly, and redo the man part to make it smaller. This would require reworking the entire design, though. You could also add more detail to the man part, which would use up more paper, thus making the man part smaller. Some things to consider are fingers, hair, armor, or weapons (a lance or a bow, perhaps). This would, of course, make it more complex.
You have a great start-I hope it turns out well for you.
