Well, you can make tissue foil with white glue as well, I even think it has better folding properties than the one made with spray adhesive.

You should also make the tissue-foil outside, not inside. No matter what the label says :-P

The same goes for spray-painting and shellacing.

A lot of suggestions here with additives, but I got a pretty good result with brown paper used for packaging. The thickness was around 65 gsm and I had to glue the seams etc. of the model after folding.

I personally prefer paper that's colored same both sides for this model.

Robert's original clock was made from some sort of brownish butcher paper. We didn't even know about Elephant hide back then.

Has anyone tried taping pieces of paper together to make this model? If so, what kind of tape did you use? Lang says it can be done in ODS, and he gives the dimensions of the 4 sheets to be taped together so that the tape is hidden inside the final model. I have a couple of large 70 x 100 cm rectangles of Elephant Hide paper, and saw that Lang used the same paper to fold the model on his website. A friend and I were thinking of cutting those rectangles into the right dimensions and taping them together to make a fairly large 1 x 10 strip (possibly up to 35 x 350 cm) to fold the clock out of. One of the reasons we were thinking of a larger starting sheet is because of the thickness of the Elephant Hide (although it is somewhat thin compared to some Elephant Hide I've seen). We may try to wet-fold parts of it, especially during the shaping at the end, but the precreasing will all be dry-folded. Can anyone who's folded the clock before tell us if we are completely insane or not for trying to do this? Thanks!

I used double tissue mc. 3' at a time for a 14" x 140" piece which I think is about the right size. It can bunch up a bit between sections depending how it dries, but it works.
Another option would be tracing paper rolls, but you won't get dual color that way...

That's pretty stupid, if you're doing it without any protection, and in a (semi) sealed room. No wonder you're in ill health. I would suggest seeing a doctor if your symptoms are as bad as you're describing them. Never, ever before have I heard of someone doing it like you do. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) wear a mask, do it outside, anything!.
