Where To Find HUGE Origami Paper

I've been looking for origami paper that is huge, around 50cmx50cm. Problem is: I can't find any anywhere! I tried looking online, looking at the back of Satoshi's book for those websites. Ito-ya had no English translated pages, Takeo's website had no way to buy the paper online, and origamido had no large paper at all.

I know, some people may say that there is paper at craft stores, on large rolls. However, the employees always tear the sides and cut jagged, rectangular edges. Plus, the paper there is far too thick. I tried folding Satoshi's Ancient Dragon, and ended up with a pot-bellied, thick armed dragon!

It just leaves me to think: where does Satoshi get his perfectly cut, brightly (and extremely thin) origami paper? f anyone knows where I can get this kind of paper, it would be great!

there is Mahjong Paper that is quite thin, around 50 gsm, which is available in most countries in asia. Mahjong is a chinese game, the paper is used to shuffle tiles on. I got mmine from Malaysia. I purchased the largest there was, 80*80cm-big enough for the ryujin 2.1

Nicholas Terry sells rolls of 50cm by 30m kraft paper, which is 28gsm. If you want to fold something with even bigger paper, you can buy a sheet that is 240cm by 240cm...

That kraft paper is really nice for origami. I just got my roll of it, and it's pretty much my favorite kind of paper now.

The kraft paper seems really good, with the only drawback being that it only comes in brown. I'll probably order the kraft paper, though.

On http://www.takeo.co.jp , it seems that the Japanese format has a shop feature, but in English, it's imposssible to buy anything (I think). In Satoshi's book, he says that the site has a way to purchase the paper online, but I don't see anything. I might send an e-mail to them and hope I get lucky.

In the end, kraft paper will do.

Nicholas Terry also has Tant paper in large sheets of 110 x 80 cm. They are fairly thin and he has folded an Icarus from some so I think it should be okay. They come in loads of colours too and you can buy single sheets.

I have a role of 37gsm kraftpaper from which I can get 120cm squares thats what I call thin and huge

to answer your original question, satoshi folds most of his exhibition grade models from origamido paper (i think the forward to his book even states the dragon on the cover is folded from origamido paper). if they don't sell any right now, it's because they make it in batches. lafosse occasionally posts here; you could e-mail him and ask. be prepared to shell out. also, satoshi learned to make his own paper from lafosse. so even if there wasn't a piece of origamido paper big enough for a given work, i imagine he made it himself.

sorry, i got it from a Malaysian store, but i'll see if i can find it online.
