Was there and had a blast. Don't forget, in addition to Convention 2010 next year, you will the opportunity to come to CenterFold, the first Ohio Origami retreat to be held in Columbus Ohio. David Brill will be back, as well as Tomoko Fuse. I have heard personally from a number of other very notable folders that they plan on attending. It should be pretty easy on the wallet and we have lots planned. Put in on your calendars, August 21 and 22, 2010!

legionzilla: There is no age limit - OUSA is a very family oriented place. If you are under 18 though, I think you need to be accompanied by an adult or guardian/parent.
In regards to the post - I know! There's been virtually no discussion about this years convention. Also almost nobody has loaded up pictures from the event except myself and two other people (onto flickr that is) :/ usually the internet booms with excitement a few days after the convention. Oh well. Maybe in a week or so.

Well, I remember last year it also took a few days before the photos flooded in. Remember that most of the people that went still have to recover from jet lag, go to work, etc.
That being said, it looked like this year's convention was a little smaller than last year's, but maybe that's just how the pictures were taken.

There were a lot more exhibitors than those that I took pictures of, so my selections are by no means comprehensive. I hadn't been to convention since 2006. Some said that this year's exhibit was smaller than last year's. Compared to 2005 and 2006, though, I would say that it's about as big as I remember it.
Yeah, something needs to change. OUSA needs to catch up to the internet age... and start reaching out to folders that don't live in New York. The convention is pretty much the only reason for most of us to join OUSA, and because of the bad economy fewer people can get all the way to NY... hence, OUSA has a lower membership. Simple when you think about itJonnycakes wrote:I have pictures as well, but I haven't gotten to sorting through them and uploading them yet. I think the convention was indeed smaller, and OUSA's membership was significantly lower to boot. Something needs to change.

I really hope that I can come to a convention in the next few years.

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

Well, they said at the annual meeting at the convention that the attendance this year was only down by about 2%, which was better than they expected. They said that it was probably due to cheaper airfare even though the economy is bad.ahudson wrote:Yeah, something needs to change. As far as they catering to NYC, OUSA has now had several PCOC conferences (Pacific Coast Origami Conference) including one later this year in November. The folding groups in the US seem to be concentrated on the coasts, so I think having the conventions on the east and west coasts is reasonable. And, the headquarters of OUSA is in NYC.
Re: Purchase Between the folds
>>>Fi-Ori asked: Between the folds in DVD? Awesome!
There's a place where I can buy a copy? (I'm in Italy)
You might try: http://www.greenfusefilms.com/
Specifically there is an info email address that you can find on this page:
http://www.greenfusefilms.com/stills.html
I'm sure they'd be happy to point you to a place where you can purchase it.
