What is your favorite model to fold?

Mine is kawasaki angled rose and michael la fosse origamido butterfly. Well, kawasaki rose has passed as my favorite and my most hated model, because it may be wicked cool, but after hundreds of requests from schoolmates, one gets tired. of it And well, origamido butterfly, its just virtually perfect.

agreed, one of the lafosse butterflies would be on number two for me

the butterfly book by lafosse is amazing and a pleasure to fold too

Well, zoraz, RZ is actually my avorite model to fold

. The only part that I do not like is the fact that it takes forever to do the scales... I have started another one from a much better paper, and am almost done with it

. It is quite fun to fold, I think, and is very satisfying to finish.... even if I have only ever folded it twice, and only once well so far. If I could say one other model, though, I would have to say... ....Robert Lang's Bull Moose

Joisel's Rat is the model I've folded most - it's dripping with life.

I suppose my favourite model to fold is one of my own designs, my dragon with spiked tail. Ok, I know it might be a bit biased but I seriously like the folding sequence and the fact that it can be folded in just a bit over half an hour with quite a pleasing result for the time taken.

I am very sorry, I must reply. Because you are newbie here, you do not know my view of origami and I hope you will not be injured somehow, it is just my personal opinion and view.

Simply: this is not a pleasing result.

that dragon is ok, it may be some kind of self promotion to post it her but the dragon itself is not that bad. I don't like the paper and I don't like the angle of the picture but the dragon itself looks nice

Ok, allow me to explain my picture. First of all, the paper is of really poor quality. I made it out of standard aluminium foil used for wrapping food and the likes which I twisted far too much ending in this result.

Secondly, the picture is indeed poorly taken, it was just a random picture I had left somewhere. I did not take the effort in taking another picture.

Third, I do not claim that this is the most beautiful dragon out there. However, the title of this topic specifically asks which model is my favourite to fold, not my favourite model in terms of looks. As I have already stated, I like this model because I like the folding sequence and the fact that I can make it in a short period of time. In terms of beauty I find such models as Kamiya's Phoenix 3.5 much more beautiful but folding that costs hours and hours which I generally don't have. However, compared to such other dragons as Charles Esseltine's Dragon in Flight or Dragon by Fernando Gilgado Gomez, I generally prefer my own dragon in terms of looks (when folded with similar neatness/paper that is) while the difficulty is generally lower and the folding sequence is most certainly shorter. I would never put this forward as an extraordinary beautiful model but I consider it a nice appetiser for in between.

David_D, could you maybe share your fun with us by releasing diagrams for your dragon? I'd really like to give it a try.

About the model I enjoy to fold most, I'm really not sure. I love the ingenious folding sequences of Hideo Komatsu's Owl and Horse, but have only folded these models one time each.
A model I folded several times where I really like the folding sequence is the old Kawasaki rose with the precreasing method of Kevin Hines, it's very ingenious.

Dwarf - Eric Joisel: fun to fold and there is tons of room to add your own touches
KNL Dragon - Robert Lang: good difficulty to results ratio and you can improv on the head, tail and wings
Bull - Stephan Weber: almost impossible to believe how simple the model is when you see the final result
Knight on Horseback - Peter Engel: great color change

My favorite models find a balance between complexity and the quality of the final product. Tough to go wrong with an embellished classic crane too. Joisel did amazing ones as does Weber. Personally I get bored pre-creasing. The saddest step in any origami book, "now unfold everything"

I'd have to say Satoshi Kamiya's Orca. Half because I think it looks really nice, and half because it's the only one of the models in his book I can fold

I really like how it's folded though, and I've made a few of them.
