I'd like to see a cat, in slight 3D. Kind of like Kawahata's Cat Herr, without stripes.

Nononononononononono pleeeeeease no! If you're gonna buy the expensive paper, use it for perfection! Most people (myself included) are scared to break into the stash of expensive paper until their models are perfect- but Josh, you seem to be the opposite. When you're designs are still in the major dustments stage, stay with printer paper and kami! Then if you want, tissue foil, and finally when your design has been perfected with a few decent folds you can make an extra-special one from nicer paper. To be honest Josh, you're very lucky you can have all of these nice and expensive papers. Don't waste them.

Josh, I hope you're not including a 12-legged ground beetle among your best designs. For obvious reasons…

Here's the thing with paper. Drafts should be folded from cheap, available papers. Whether this means origami paper, foil, kraft paper, tracing paper, or whatever to you. When you're folding a presentable version after getting most of the details sussed out you want to use good paper. Some people go directly to good paper, hoping to only have to fold it the one time. I've seen pictures online where Joseph Wu shows 20 draft folds, all using elephanthide, and I've seen some people who design by CP confident in folding their first (and often only) attempt from Origamido. Even Robert Lang test-folds most of his stuff from large sheets of Japanese Foil.

thanks jared
this is my design process:
1. think of a folding sequence for a certain model
2. try it out with copy paper to see if i get the right amount of flaps
3. try with tissue foil
4. fold it properly

btw, the tanuki is turning out awesome!
ill post pics when its done, and this one will be diagrammed!!

jared: the 12 legged bug is not really among my best but is one of my cleanest, so i put it there :P
