Chris Palmer's new book!!

Post by redheadorigami »

I nearly poo'd my pants when I first saw this. HE HAS GOT A BOOK. It's called ShadowFolds+ something or other.
I IMMEDIATELY ORDERED THIS THING. Discuss.

It should be this:

pay attention: it's not strictly origami, it talks on fabric (mostly silk) folding and sewing,
Interesting however, Jeff Rutzky showed us some examples a couple of years ago.

It can still be applied to paper.

Oddly enough, I just got in touch with his publisher today about getting a copy for review - it should be here in the next few days.

I'm looking forward to it. I'm friends with Chris and Jeff, so I was privy to some of the work as the book was in progress; Chris showed me the final product a few months ago, but I didn't really have the time to dig in and read it as much as I wanted to.

It is a very fabric-centric book, which of course was the intent... but I will say it's one of the nicest origami/tessellation/geometric art books I've seen, and the production value is amazing. definitely a must-have.

I'll be posting a lengthier review once it arrives and I have some time to play with it :)

I have this book & it is really beautiful. I do not have the ability to translate the designs to paper, though. I will be looking forward to some reviews & suggestions! I don't think I can do the book as-is...working with fabric is not for me, unfortunately.
