I'm Andy, originally from the UK, but I've been living here in Helsinki for about 12 years now. I've been lurking on these boards for a few years (at least), but I finally decided to sign up, since I might have some interesting stuff to share.
I've been interested in origami since I was a youngster, when I borrowed books from one of my Dad's friends and folded every model available. I think it was a few years ago when I saw some photos of Kamiya's creations that I decided to start doing origami again. However, here in Finland, I couldn't really find the resources suitable for even creating tissue foil (no spray glue), and my attempts at folding complex origami with wrapping paper were frustrating at best. However, it's been in the back of my mind the whole time and every now and then I'd check back here.
Recently, following new advice from these forums, including Sara's videos on using wallpaper paste to make tissue foil and double tissue, I finally have the paper to try folding some of these models. Add to that my very recent discovery of the origami-shop website making a whole range of good paper available online, I've placed an order and am very excited about finally being able to work with proper paper.
If anyone on these boards lives in Finland and happens to know where I can get anything origami-related locally, I'd appreciate help!
I've folded a handful of models in the past few weeks, but none are looking all that great yet. I'll post some pictures when I finally make something worth looking at
