yeah.... the idea itself was not so bad, but the execution is......uh....awful.
I can see there is a maybe only a hint of organization behind all that crumbling on the shell. That has to change.

the legs still do not look long enough in comparison to the body. hardly even close.
What I think you need to do at this point is look at pictures of actual king crabs and ask your if you truly think you could make your model into a realistic interpretation of that creature. And from that decision, you need to either further refine your design or scrap the base and start from scratch.

and for like the fiftieth time, stop using tissue foil. it looks awful.

Josh, it needs longer legs. Longer legs=smaller body. You may be able to recycle the basic base by making the body much smaller relative to the leg flaps. Heck, you can use that as a rationale for doing those silly spiny things on the shell. First you form the spine flaps for the shell then you fold the shell and it may become small enough. And um, those claws? While yes, the claws of the king crab are shorter than the other legs, they were actually the only legs that were long enough before!

Longer legs, smaller body! Good luck!

And ditch the T-foil.

i will definatly refold the king crab again with better paper.
i will try my absolute best to get longer legs and the smaller body in my next fold.

i will fold it sometime today with really thin paper....

also jared, i took your advice on the longer legs and smaller body think and it did work but it looks more like a spider crab

anyway, here it is:

for both models i used a single sheet of tissue paper and the eyes section were the only parts i painted.

You see Joshua, you have to realize that it is not always the paper. Only in some rare cases will it be the paper, (unless you are folding some very complex models), and so you'll have to accept the fact your execution was not correct, so just keep on refolding.

But I must say your re-re-fold of the king crab looks quite nice. Nicer than before at least.

I kinda feel like its beating a dead horse, but I need to say once more, Joshua you need to focus more on shaping your models. I don't mean with just like the spikes on the back of your crab, I have no problem with that

, but I do mean with things like the legs on your crab. because they look rather flat.....and rather unrefined.

real crab legs have joints. where your crab does not

you need to work on folding your models cleaner as well because the layers on the legs look quite sloppy

though I do appreciate you using nicer paper

oh and when you say 'spider crab' do you mean like a japanese spider crab? like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_spider_crab ? or do you mean something else?

yeah, i think if it had a smaller body (only possible with super thin paper) it could look like a japanese spider crab

yeah I gotta say, that looks basically nothing like a spider crab :B the body would need to be at least a third of the size in relation to the legs and I'm unsure you'd even be able to pull it off with that base :/

A suggestion for a model might be Diaz's Vixen, you should make a new one cause you sort of butchered our old one as you can see

this is the exact version that will be diagrammed, and only 27 more steps to draw until the diagrams are done - i should be done tonight or tomorrow

the length of the claws are much smaller than i wanted them to be though

The original was better Josh. At least it looks it from the photos. I would say it is the second best of your designs I've seen, after the walrus. Claws are more important than eyestalks I think. No one will say, "oh those eyestalks are too short, that doesn't look like a crab." But they will say, "oh those claws are too small, that doesn't look like a crab!"
