No. What makes Kamiya's so impressive is that his was completely original. No matter how great yours is, it was influenced by Kamiya's. Also, his way of forming the claws (feet) was I believe totally original. It was technically an application of a technique used in Maekawa's devil, but still, it's use in creating claws, from the interior of the square was very original.
First of all, it was influenced by the original Bahamut from FF7.
And secondly, I have never seen the cp or diagrams for Kamiya's Bahamut. So how could it be influenced by that? Mine was made from scratch, so it's 100% original! Sheesh!!
Sorry, what I meant was that Kamiya's Bahamut was the first instance of a Bahamut (or really any Final Fantasy figure) in origami. Yours was influenced by seeing his. Not by seeing how to make his. I'm pretty sure the way you made yours is completely different (I assume box-pleating).
That doesn't mean I can't make my own version Just because somebody made a model based on a certain subject before everyone else doesn't mean that every other version after that can't be as impressive or better than the original. Sorry for misunderstanding your post. I thought you were calling me a rip-off artist
I am 28 (for three more months), been folding since I was 10 or 11, almost exclusively following diagrams. Joining this forum gave me the courage I need to fold CPs... so thanks everyone!
I study bugs (Entomologist) for military (Vector surveillances and Arthropod-related diseases).

That is certainly true. But your Bahamut looks quite similar to Kamiya's (the first pic you posted). I find it hard to believe that you were not influenced by Kamiya's (not necessarily design-wise, but finished image-wise).
Just remember, Bahamut is a video game character. My model was intended to resemble that Bahamut. I'm sure that when Satoshi was designing his Bahamut he was also having the same thing in mind, so obviously they would look slightly similiar. Anyway, this is starting to go off topic. Let's just get back to discussing how close we are to dying of old age.
By the way, I changed the picture of my Bahamut. I don't want to post to many pictures so just go to my gallery for more pictures.
The bahamut is a creature out of the pen&paper roleplaying game "Dungeons and Dragons", based on a creature from arabic mythology... modified... as far as I know the arabic Bahamut is more fishlike. I would also speculate that the D&D Bahamut is influenced by the famous lord of the rings drawings of the brothers Hildebrandt.
I just got here yesterday, and to go back to the original topic, I'm 29....but I'll be 30 on the 27th. I've only been folding for 6 months, and I've found it's addicting!
