Another "newbie" :p

Hi, I thought it might be fun if I'd introduce myself, since I probably will posting alot in the future ( I hope so )

I'm a 21y/o (female) graphic designer from Belgium that fell in love with origami & papercraft. I folded a few models, mostly polyhedra and kusudamas because I like the geometry in the patterns and the abstract look they've got. I'd like to learn more about the art of origami, dig deeper in the secrets of paper and maybe one day use it in my design-work !
Last weeks/months I'm playing with paper on a daily basis, trying to find new things to create. I find it really exciting to make such beautifull things out of paper. Now you (kinda) got an idea of who I am and why I'm here
I hope this forum will be a little boost for my folding skills, since I've seen alot of talented folders here.

Thanks to everone for sharing your work, diagrams, and experience on this forum.
It's great for beginning folders to learn more about origami!

Also, I would like to ask if you guys have some tips about websites that sell and ship paper. It seems that I can't find any good paper stores near me, it's mosly just plain paper, but I wan't something more special. So, if you know a good webshop for origami paper, pleaselet me know! I need it .

Greetings and welcome my fellow Belgian. Origami enthusiasts are thin spread in our country but there a a few around. I too know that it's hard to get paper and books (especially advanced books) but http://www.proxis.be carries at least some of the more known masters such as Robert Lang. Origami Design Secrets is a book I recommend, not only for the models but also for the reading and the insight of Origami. I'm very fond on this website here because everybody is always ready to help you out, not matter how simple or silly the question is.

I can find plain origami paper in stores here too, but I'm looking for special papers, something to give my models that extra touch !

Great to see the origami madness spread in Belgium!
I've got a few ebooks allready, but there are alot of things that I want to make that don't have a clear diagram (like the stampfmaschine)
- Btw : If anyone could help me with the stampfmaschine, your help would be very much appreciated -
Reading books and forums like this gives me a better view of how things are made, how the paper is put together and moves in certain ways.
So I hope,in some way, this website can help me learn to understand more advanced models, and models without diagrams.
Maybe I'll give tessellations a try too, they always look so great, but it seems like a very hard task to fold. It always looks like I'm ruining it, so I usually give up on them, while I probably shouldn't!
This forum seems to give me the boost to keep trying, if I look at all the wonderfull things that everybody makes, I know it's worth it to keep on folding!
