new to origami how should i start?

Post by bszgr »

hey there.
i've been folding models for like 3-4 months now
and i've been able to fold only few models
i wonder what book should i buy to start with?

the complex models i've been able to fold completly are :

pegasus by satoshi kamiya
fiery dragon by kade chan
valentine by robert j lang

when i try to fold other models i just get stuck at the midle with the diagrams and give up.
i would love to get some help.

I would rather try some simpler models. They may not look as cool as some of the more complex stuff but you will quickly learn certain folds which may come in handy when folding the more complex things. Also, it's possible you need to start over with some models, It's not always possible to get a decent result on the first try, patience is key in this hobby.

also the right paper helps a lot with more complex models. But normal copy paper should work fine for the first folds or just regular origami paper. As the other ones said, try folding the easier ones (sometimes they express more than the complex ones) and learn the basics. The internet and this forum helps a lot. If you ever get stuck on a step from a certain model you definitely find an answer here, so feel free to ask.
