After seeing all the amazing stuff the iPhone can do I can't wait to see what the iDot can do!

But back on the subject at hand, I found origami when I was in kindergarten and went to a freind's house, his mom folded me two models, the 2 peice ninja throwing stars and a rocket ship. Seeing as she had used glue on the rocket ship, I couldn't unfold it, so I unfolded the throwing star instead. After a bit of work, I managed to recreate it, which I was rather pleased with myself for doing so. This little event sparked my interest enough to ask my mom to get me some origami books, and the rest is history(pardon the cliche)

Ooh!!! I want an iDot too!

I started folding when I was 7 or 8. I first found out about it when my mum bought me an origami fold-a-day calender. After that I was hooked. Now, 4 or 5 years later, I'm an advanced folder and a member of the forum!

I met origami when I was 8.

I usually go seaside every summer, and that year (26 years ago...) on the beach there was "the man of origami".
Well his name was Clemente, but all the children on beach used to call him so, beacuse he spent their days folding models for all the children.

He accepted also some "students" but only the one older that 10 could fold with him. So I could only watch.
Since I thought that wasn't fair, I memorized every step of one model and I done it by myself.
I've shown him the result and he accepted me.

Form that day we meet every year during the summer holiday.
He teached me more than origami, and now I'm very proud when he introduce me as his best sempai

that can even teach something to his sensei too.

I think that I've been very lucky to learn origami from an expert origamist instead of from books

That story was very touching

I noticed that on your website, it said that you had a teacher, is that Clemente? I can't believe how manage to prove to him that you could do origami even though he only allowed 10 year olds! That was the best story ever!!!

P.S.- If you remember, what were the models that Clemente taught the students?

It is an happy story, maybe

The model I've done was one of Clemente creation. A completely close square box with a windmill on top.
Looking at this model now it looks very simple (you only need to be precise on folding and in a few steps oyu can get it), but I still remember my happyness in doing it by myself

Three years ago I've done a variation of that model, tranferring the construction technique on an hexagonal sheet (instead of starting from a square).
It has had so much success that my sister asked me to fold 300 of them as favor for her wedding.

Sometimes knowing origami it is not an advantage

Hi, I'm new here.... but I've been folding since I was in the fourth grade

My Teacher had a "treasure box" for good students to pick out a prize, and in it she had some origami cranes. I took one of those, and tried to figure out how to make it. My teacher was impressed enough that I figured it out, that she bought me an origami book.....

I haven't stopped since. but I've only recently found some of the amazing things people are doing on the internet..... WOW!

I started folding when i 3 years old..
My first model is simple house..
after that "fall in love" with origami....
I usually ask my friend to teach my origami..
and at age 7-8 met the "internet"
My brother taught me to used internet..
and until now like use internet to look for diagrams..
