Origami USA 2011 Convention

So, a two-fold question. When people exhibit their work at conventions, is it generally of their design? And if not, what is generally the quality expectation?

fyi, there is often a student exhibition, where students display works they have folded which were obviously designed by others. if one can be a bit crude, it's easy for experienced folders to see the errors they have made. also, for reasons of paper choice and finishing, many of those models, if they were designed for higher end papers, obviously are splaying, as the students are still at the point where they think glue is forbidden.

I would encourage everyone to exhibit at convention, especially a talented folder like yourself.

The only time I've ever exhibited models at Convention that I didn't design, I was showcasing some sort of novel folding medium. Barring that, I would not exhibit, and have not done so in some time. Most of my newer designs are airplanes for upcoming books, and I doubt anyone really wants to look at those.

If anyone wants the scoop on restaurants in the vicinity im happy to throw in my 2 cents.

So, where is good for lunch ? And have you decided to go?

I actually google earth'd the place, and directly across the street is a dunkin donuts, a couple of italian places, and a couple of sandwich places.

There is Rosa's Pizza across 7th Ave which is good. There is a Chipotles at the other corner (south) which is also good. I wouldn't recommend BRGR the hamburguers are waaay expensive and nothing out of the ordinary tastewise.

There used to be an Indian restaurant a bit north along 7th ave but I don't know if it still there.

If you go West and a bit to the South, you'll get to Chelsea. There are plenty of restaurants there. The usual salad, pasta and drink for less than $10 which in NYC is a great bargain.

Seems like there are more good places in Chelsea than I remember (I used to live in NYC)!
