has anyone folded with gold?
here is the why I am bring this up
when eating breakfast with my dad he asked me if any one folded with gold so I asking on hear.

Gold coloured paper, or actual gold?

actual gold it is just an idea!

maybe some dirty rich origamist who has no sense of value, yeah. I mean, it wouldn't be that hard to fold it.

LOL it would be harder to get it then fold it !

I have folded silver. i use the PMC (precious metals clay) squares to do it. They are small squares. Look up PMC gold or silver. I did not have the money to do gold. Silver can be a better place to start.

does PMC silver fold nicely?
and how much is it?

The crane is about as complex as you can get with PMC sheets, as it is only 6cm or 2.36 inches square. If they make larger squares I am unaware of it. You can just use the PMC clay, not sheets, and roll out your own square, but as you fold the material sticks to itself. If you use the PMC sheets, then they come pretreated with something that does not stick to itself.

Characteristics of PMC Sheet
The PMC sheet consists of pure silver particles and binder only, containing no water. The special binder results in elasticity and flexibility without water. The sheet can be folded or cut with scissors like paper. Because it contains no moisture, there are no time constraints-model as long as you like.
If any water is applied or dropped on the sheet, the binder dissolves in water and the sheet may not retain its shape . To glue the sheets, use gum arabic (paste at stationery suppliers).
The sheet contains more binder than clay. Unlike PMC3, it does not fire at low temperatures. Always use an electric kiln and fire for 15 minutes or longer at 850°C or for five minutes or longer at 900°C.

Honestly, if I wanted a silver crane, I'd just use foil-backed paper! It would be cool to fold gold/silver though.

I think Erik is just hosting the resurrected site of Thoki Yenn. I am not sure Erik has done one in gold himself. There are a lot of origami things Thoki Yenn did first or experimented with first.

By the way CBP is cross box pleat which should look familiar to anyone that has folded Fujimoto's works.

i dont think it would be too hard to fold with gold leaf.

Yes, but think of the expenses.

Gold leaf would be annoying to fold with. It has slightly different properties to gold, some of it (depending on where you buy it) being processed. Processed leaf flakes really easily, and is weak, and is probably a little too thin for folding models with. Also, I don't believe you can get it in actual sheets (at least in australia). An actual sheet of gold, on the other hand, if thin enough, would be quite good to fold, though impractically expensive.
