Blockfolding Swan

Hi everybody,
Me and my family have made this huge blockfolding swan out of A4-paper. It took us 2 days. (about 20 hours) and we had to make 1300 elements.

Thanks for welcoming me.
It's pretty big and there's not really much room for it but it was a lot of fun making it. The weight is over 6 kg.
so it's pretty heavy and bescause you don't glue blockfolding it's pretty hard to carry it around.
The next thing we want to make is a blockfolding duck of a4 paper
I really enjoy blockfolding. Have you ever done that?

Blockfolding is my favourite part of Jorigami. My favourite is a dragon:
Can't wait to make that one out of A4 sized papers!
But the swan is nice. I don't think this is the last BIG version of a blockfolding figure we will make.

I'll try to explain it for you;
It is a modern origami technique. You make small eliments in just 9 steps. These elements are called blocks. With these elements you can 'build' anything you want. It just takes inspiration.
Ofcourse there are a few diagrams and books. The swan is a well known blockfolding model.
You usually make it from 500 elements (with paper size 38x68mm)
We only wanted to see if a bigger one was possible. That's when we made the swan.
There are boxes for sale that include everything you need. Several kinds like the swan, a chicken, a dragon and pierrot dolls. In Asia it is the hobby of a lot of youth boys making it for their girlfriend.
It's not to difficult and it's great fun! The only problem is that it isn't that famous in Europe yet but I'm sure that it will become famous here as well.

I made a block project once too! It was a vase for my grandma... It was quite big! I had to made alot of blocks a day to complete it! turned out very pretty:P very full filling experience:)
