if anyone here plays or knows of go(also known as weiqi and baduck) i would like to ask-have you ever seen origami go board, stones, or bowls? i would like to make a set or design one. can any designers help me, or make it themselves??

I have some abstract suggestions:

I think there are a few designs for chessboards, and these might be modified and expanded to make the Go board.

A month or two ago, there was a design for a tile. You might use black and white paper, and sink the corners to make the stones.

I think that Paul Jackson (?) posted a design for a shallow bowl.

Anyone, feel free to amplify and expand on my fragmented memory....

For the board, all you would need to do is a grid pattern with some little squares popping up for the handicap dots. The dimensions are a bit odd, though, with 19 divisions...

The stones shouldn't be hard at all. Simple folding the corners behind would make octagonal approximations. Even if you want something a little more 3D, inflatable octagons shouldn't be too difficult to make.

The bowl probably presents the biggest challenge, as curved-and especially spherical-figures are hard to make. A simple bowl that is similar in size and shape should be feasible, but not one with a smooth, curved surface.

there is a modulare chessboard by Kim Best. The Diagrams can be found at http://www.origami.com (just search for chess at the diagrams section). they are single piece modules that can be tucked together, so you can easily make a 19x19 board from it.

you could even make a 19x19 black and white board with a brown border.

For the stones you could use John Montrolls decahedron (out of the book "A Plethora of Polyhedra in Origami"). or maybe a similar design.
