Today I waxed some of my origami models. I do this from time to time to conserve my models. After I waxed Lang's Tarantula, something really strange happened to the model. The colour turned into Gold. look at this:

The left model is the Spider before, and the right, after waxing it. I didn't use any paint or varnish, just the hot wax. Funny, isn't it?

Can you give more details about your process? Eg, type of paper used, type of wax used, and how the waxing process was carried out?

Anna tested it, and found out, that it was the oil of the wax, that produced that golden colour. she's a chemist... maybe she can give more information about the reasons?
I used thin (approx. 50g/sqm) kraftpaper, that was glued onto aluminium foil.

Seems like the oil got between the fibres of the paper and stayed there. Sort of like when you oil wood or leather, the oil is supposed to impregnate the material, giving it a shiny look.
