I'm new to the forums, but not new to Origami. I have Works Of Satashi Kamiya, and can do a few models in there. But that's probably at my highest.
Does anyone know a diagram or two that's about the same difficulty as erik joisels rat? Thanks.

I don't know any specific diagrams, but I know for sure that there are lots of intermediate models here.

Mhm, there is a nice rat by Felipe Moreno ( http://www.pajarita.org/aep/nacionales/espa7-3.pdf) its a bit easyer than joisels one, but looks nice.

The next step for you to take could be folding a kawasaki rose or a variation of it. Search for the Kawasaki rose thread in the forum.

I already folded the Kawasaki rose. Very nice model.

Try folding Joisel's dwarf. It's a cp and it sounds like you're in a place to start experimenting with them especially if you like Joisel's work. Other than that just do searches for something you feel like folding and challenge yourself.

Two books that I think have the greatest models are Origami Design Secrets by Robert Lang and Advanced Origami by Michael Lafosse. I personally think that the models in ODS are easier than the models in Advanced Origami but maybe I'm weird. I find Lang's diagrams and approch to folding much simpler though. Anywho I picked up these books at my joisel rat/ k-rose folding stage and they are carrying me on through. Many of the models to me are a snap and then others are .... more time consuming but all the models are so so beautiful, I love them. Also a great opportunity to learn new bases and techniques.

Oh man.

That dwarf has caused me so much pain and suffering. I think that's what stopped me from trying CPs.

That bat looks very nice, and the diagram isn't too challenging. I'll have to try it out. I'll be sure to post a picture if I finish!

Do some tessellations. They're sooooo good for your technique... Sara Adams has some videos to start with, search for Fujimoto's models.

I've been doing tessellations for about a year now, and it's helped my accuracy tremendously. They also help you explore the basic properties of how paper works, which makes CP folding and Reverse-engineering easier.

Yoshihide Momotani's "Stretch Wall" is an excellent first tessellation, if you can find diagrams. J.C. Nolan's "Andrea's Rose" is also good: http://dev.origami.com/diagram_load.cfm ... andrea.pdf

Step 37

The Bat is a challenge, but the sink in Step 37 isn't bad.... if you did all of the previous steps correctly. (?)

I have trouble folding from the diagrams exclusively, but things seem to work better when I print and fold the CP by following the diagrams.

Someone else may be able to identify common problems ?
