It is already listed on amazon. It is supposed to be published by AK Peters.

I e-mailed Mr. Montroll about it. It has 64 models divided in 3 chapters. Some models are the same or improvements of one of his other polyhedra books that is no longer in print. It also focuses on the mathematical background of designing polyhedra, angle division, etc.

There was a diagrammed example of one of his new ideas in a BOS magazine last year.

A striped tetrahedron - ingenious design where you create a net of pre-creases, roll the paper in to a cylinder, insert6ing one end into the other to lock it, and then push the creases into place to form the polyhedron.

A near maximally size faced tetrahdreon with a thick colour changed stripe running across the center of the faces.

The approach was very interesting, I'd never seen an approach like it.

I like his polyhedra series. I've got the first two and I'll be getting this one.

But man, what HAPPENED to his animal designs? Ever since he started doing closed-back animals, they've all looked the SAME. His birds too!

I want another African Animals-style book with some nice design diversity.

Just got word from AK Peters that Montroll's polyhedra book has been cancelled.

From what I heard during the convention, I don't think John was happy with his relationship with AK Peters.

That is a shame, I was looking forward to this.

I assume (hope) he has already written the book and just needs to get it published, and we will still see it sometime soon. Anybody know?

Look for one or two polyhedra books to come out from Montroll via Dover. I am not sure of the timing yet. It may be this year or in the spring of 2010.
